BIO:  Bo came from a shelter in NC turned in by his owner when he alleged snapped at the teenager.  What we do feel is that he was abused by one or all members of the family. When he came to us he was extremely hand shy but is slowly settling in and getting more confident. He is even learning to play with the other dachshund fosters.

Because of his past abuse we are recommending “ no” children and a dachshund savvy family. Untimely what we want for Bo3 is a older couple, fenced yard with either another younger dog or he can be adopted by himself. Whomever adopts him just needs to understand they need to go slow with him and he will come around but don’t rush him with his past abuse.

Bo3 is a sweet boy, loves a lap and is a quiet boy that would be great with a working couple.

Bo deserves a good life now, please be the one to give him that.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of  CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
