BIO:

Let me tell you about one of the sweetest and most loving little boys I have ever met.  His name is Taylor Boots.  I swear I think he may have a bunny rabbit in his family tree the way he jumps for his squeakers.  Taylor came to us as an owner surrender.  He was very well loved by his previous family, but circumstances forced them to have to part with a loved member of their family.  The first thing about Taylor that stands out is deep, penetrating blue eyes.  Once he gets to know you, those eyes will look up at you with a deep felt affection and love that can’t be denied.  It took Taylor a day or so to warm up, but that was due to the fact that he had just been taken out of his home and was thrust into a new environment.  It only took a day or so and he was bouncing around and dancing around my legs when I came back home from work.

He does really well on his leash, but I would recommend using one of the harness types since if he hears a dog bark or any other loud noise he does freeze up and want to bolt.  He is doing really well on the issue of potty training.  The only time an accident does occur is if he gets a little scared outside.  If you are there with him, he will settle down but he will just sit there waiting to go back inside.  At night he LOVES to snuggle in the big bed on top of the covers.  During the day he loves to have is his squeaker thrown for him.  He will pounce on it and then proudly strut back to you for you to throw it all over again.  He is also content to sit in the chair or on his “pillow” and relax while you are busy.

This little boy is looking for a home that wants to love him as much as he is willing to love them back.  The one thing that must be warned about is when you first come in - you have to be willing to submit to massive amounts of hello kisses!  I mean you did leave him at the house!

Taylor Boots is looking for and deserves a home that will shower him will all the love and affection that a special little boy like him deserves.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
