BIO

My name is Maxie.   I was surrendered to AADR from my most recent home in Indiana, along with my mate, Little (aka Buddy).   My mom took us in May from my previous owner who went to her church.  I’m not really sure why he gave us up?  We really aren’t much trouble at all.  I am shy, dependent on my mate Little, have no behavioral problems, and get along with my foster mom and her doxies.   I am working on my house breaking and love using the doggie door.   I’m not much of a licker, but I do give kisses on occasion.   I love to go for walks, ride in the car and relax on the back of the couch.   My foster mom says I’m not much of a barker except I follow suit with Little when he barks.  My foster mom says I need some reassurance to get more confidence.   Please help me find my Forever Home.  I will give you lots of love and affection and be your best friend and companion.

We will not adopt into the state of  CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
