BIO:
It would be wonderful if dogs could talk and tell us about their lives before they became wandering lost souls as strays. That is how Lance was found; alongside a busy South Carolina highway. He was so frightened by the time he was brought to the local shelter that is took several days for him to trust enough to be picked up. Once he passed that point, his sweet, loving nature came to light. Despite whatever his previous life was, Lance is now a cheerful cuddler, very laid back and happy to lounge on a doggie bed or a lap for hours. And, he loves to ride! He is being treated for a long existing allergy at the base of his tail which has improved and will diminish with a little time. Other than that, his health seems to be excellent and with some patience with his housetraining, he will be a wonderful companion for someone who can share love with this calm and collected senior boy.
More about Lance...NC
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
