Rowdy is a courtesy listing and not associated with All American Dachshund Rescue. Please contact Lindsey at the e-mail listed above for further details on Rowdy and how to adopt him.
Rowdy is a sweet-natured ten-month-old dachshund who loves playing with other dogs and children. He spends most of his days sleeping on a comfortable chair, playing tug-of-war with a three-year-old boy, and wrestling with a five-year-old lab mix, named Ellie. Rowdy loves to sleep in bed with you at night under the covers and follow his mom wherever she goes. He is very laid back and sleeps a lot of the day but is always up for playing. He loves to play with toys and chew bones. He will hide his bones all over the house in closets and behind pillows and curtains so that he always has a bone to play with!
Rowdy’s family made the difficult decision to give him up when his mom had to go onto bed rest due to a difficult pregnancy while also trying to care for a toddler at home. While Rowdy’s family is very sad to see him go, they want to find him a family that has lots of time to play with him and nurture him.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
