Do you love to cuddle with your Dachshund? Gussie will sit right next to you for hours at a time and most often will want to hop right on your lap. Yes – he’s a wonderful lap dog and will keep you warm in the winter months. Gus is almost 5 years old and is looking for a forever home where adults will love him and spoil him. His owner passed away and he’s been staying with relatives until a new forever home can be located.
Gussie is house trained, handles himself well on a leash, loves being in the sun and/or under a blanket, even in the middle of our current heat wave. He’s crated at night, eats only Iams dry dog food and dog treats and basically is a very easy dog to manage.
We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
