CHARLOTTE came from Shelby Humane Society in Columbiana, AL where she was picked up as a stray. This dog is the sweetest sweetest little girl. She gets along with everyone, would be fine with kids 8 and over but not sure about cats but probably yes. She is housebroken to a dogie door would just take a little adjustment from her and you to get her to ask to go out. She did come to us with non-contagious mange but we are treating her and she will be thru with treatment before she goes to her new home and the hair will grow back quickly. This could have been brought on by stress of being in the shelter. If you want the sweetest dog in the world then CHARLOTTE would be the one for you.
Out of State and Canidian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arranements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
