BIO

This sweet boy was surrendered to us when his owner, who was in her 80’s, could no longer care for him.  We believe that he was kept in a crate most of the time and that he was possibly yelled at and/or hit.. He is shy at first, but he warms up very quickly.  We have been taking walks often and he has really progressed with his shyness as he meets other people and dogs along our route.  We also take him to doggie play on Saturdays where he is around other people and dogs.  He immediately bonded with our dogs.  Max is definitely an eater and he enjoys his food and treats very much.  He also likes to play a lot.  He has tons of energy and he is very affectionate.  He loves a lap as well and he will jump up and sit on your lap as long as possible. He will also give you lots of kisses.  He will growl and bark if he hears a noise that he is not familiar with.  Once he gets use to the strange noise, like a door opening, he no longer cares. Max is a beautiful, affectionate dog and he has so much love to give.   He just needs some attention, love and patience.  Please consider giving this little guy a lifetime of happiness with your family..

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

More about Max 5...MO

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
