BIO:

Chocko just wants to be loved!

After fostering Chocko for just about a month, we've learned some things about him that we'd like to pass on.

Although Chock is a little shy at first, it doesn't take him long to begin to trust you. He is eager to please and such a good boy that it's easy to praise him and reassure him he is, indeed, a good boy!

He loves to relax on the couch. He likes it best when you're there with him.

He is fine with dogs who are fixed and well behaved. He's interacted with several chocolate labs - both male - and enjoyed playing with them.

He loves to wander around a back yard and really "smiles" when he gets to run free (in a fenced in back yard of course!). We have a condo (no fenced in yard) and he is fine with that too. He doesn't get to run leash-free as much, but I believe being with a loving person/family tops the back yard piece.

He is potty trained and house broken (a huge plus!!!) but if you leave toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, anything in a plastic container) on the floor, he'll take them to his toy basket and try to mix it all together so you won't notice.

Although a little skiddish because apparently he had a tough life for the first three years, each day we notice Chock getting better, trusting a little more.

He likes to scratch his back by wriggling around on the floor. It's a sign that he's content!

If you won't throw his squeaky toys for him, he'll throw them up himself and then look out!

He loves to race back and forth in the house - dachshund style.

Unlike most dachshunds, he doesn't beg when you are eating at the dinner table.

He would add love and an amazing, sweet energy to any family that would open their home to him.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about ChockO...GA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
