Ivan was taken by animal control from an animal hoarder and found his way to AADR.  He was a bit fearful at first, but quickly fell in to the routine at his foster home and has turned in quite a snuggle bug—he loves his mom and dad—anybody who has a warm lap! Ivan is housetrained and stays in a crate at night and when his foster mom is not home. He isn’t very happy about being in a crate and whines a bit, but settles in after he puts up an adequate protest. He would be good in a crate with another dog, but would LOVE to sleep in the big bed! He is not destructive and would be fine if you prefer to leave him on the sofa, laundry room, etc…

Ivan just got a clean bill of health from the vet, had his teeth cleaned, got a microchip, and all the needed vaccines. Being such a handsome boy, he was quite a hit at the vet’s office and spent much of the day in someone’s lap—yep, that’s his favorite spot!  Ivan is enjoying playing with his foster brothers and sisters and gets along well with everybody. He would enjoy a fenced yard, but walks well on a leash, too. Ivan is ready for his forever home and would be a great companion for another dog. We think he would be OK as an only child with a family that gives him lots of play time and exercise. If you think Ivan is the next love of your life, complete an application for adoption soon! This handsome boy won’t last long!

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You must make arrangements to pick up the dog or for ground transport, or volunteer transport. Most transports require a $35 vet fee for a Health Certificate that is added to the adoption fee.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about IVAN...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
