BIO:

This handsome guy is Blacky, and 8 year old who is as laid back as they come.  He's very friendly with other dogs and loves people, including children.  He enjoys sitting by your side and relaxing, but also likes to go for walks and does very well riding in the car. He also loves running around the fenced in back yard at his foster mom's house, and sometimes he just doesn't want to come in!  Unfortunately Blacky was not taken care of previously and lost all of his teeth, but that doesn't stop him.  Just some food softened with warm water suits him just fine!  If you are looking for a friendly, loving and laid back companion, Blacky's the guy for you! 

We have now been approved to adopt and transport into the state of Massachusetts but there are guidelines the organization and adopters must follow. If adopting and before filling out the adoption form please e mail aadrpresident@gmail.com to get the guidelines and expenses that must be followed.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
