BIO:  Hi, my name is Rusty. Thanks for taking a look at me.  I am the cutest, most adorable, sweetest boy.  My foster mom was visiting a high kill shelter with a friend and saw me.  Within 10 minutes I was out of there! My old owner (who adopted me at 8 weeks) just got new wood floors and he left the house for a looooooooooooong time.  When he came back I had had an accident on his new floor and he was mad.  The next day he took me to this horrible place called a shelter.  I cried really big tears and was shaking like I was really cold when my foster mom saw me. I was owner surrendered so I was set to be put to sleep that night if no one adopted me.  My foster mom took me away from there.

Since I have been at my foster home I have shown what a good boy I really am.  I am not much of a barker unless someone else is barking, then I bark to be heard too. I haven’t peed or pooped one single time in the house. I get along pretty well with the other dogs but I want all the attention all the time and I want to be the King.  I don’t like competition so I think I would be happiest in a home without other animals. I’m a lap dog for sure and I will kiss you until the cows come home.  I sleep well in a big bed and cuddle up right next to my foster mom or dad and sleep all night.  I like to sleep in on weekends.  I am not picky about my food but I don’t really like the dry stuff alone.

Please email my foster mom and give her your phone number so she can call you and answer any questions.  I do ok in a crate (after a little whining) but really prefer to have the run of the house. I don’t rip up furniture or get into any trouble. I really want a furever home where I can be your best friend, go for walks and car rides with you and share your bed, but mostly I want to know that I am loved.

Thanks for reading about me,

Rusty

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
