Angel 8 has a very sad story to tell and it’s not pretty. He was turned into the shelter by his owners because they didn’t want him any longer. The wife told the shelter that the husband was abusing Angel by putting our cigarettes on his rear end. We figured she turned him in to stop the abuse. We are glad she did cause now he has a much better chance at a new life where he will not be abused.

Shortly after we took him in he was adopted but returned when he got very ill. For a while we were not sure he was going to make it but he’s turned the corner and is now feeling great, spoiled from the rice and chicken we’ve been feeding him but that’s it. He’s even tried to play since he’s turned the corner and made a come back. Angel is now back on dog food and feeling great!

Angel 8 is the sweetest boy,  he’s fine with the foster dad as well as mom, we were a little worried at first that he’d be aggressive to men but he’s not once he knows you mean him no harm.

He is food aggressive and doesn’t like his mouth being messed with but if that’s all that he has for issues after all he’s been through then he and we are lucky.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
