If you are looking for a dog that is house trained, crate trained, and loves kids you have found your dog!  Coco is the sweetest most gently dog you will ever meet.  She was originally rescued from a shelter while pregnant only to be surrendered when her owners could no longer afford to keep her.  She has had a rough couple of years but you couldn't tell that from her now. She loves to meet new people.  She loves to go to PetSmart and loves to hang out at restaurants when her humans take her to one.  She never meets a stranger and absolutely loves children!  She loves other dogs and loves being with the pack.  She finds comfort in the pack.  BUT would do well as an only dog too.  She would be great to spoil as an only dog!  She deserves to be spoiled!  She does NOT like storms or thunder.  She does panick a bit when thunder starts(consider a thunder shirt) and doesn't quit panting until the storm has passed.  She loves to be around humans when storms move through too.

The only thing Coco wants is a loving home to call her own.  Can you give her that home?  She is a special dog and deserves a special home to call her own.

Coco is a 2 yr. dachshund mix.  She was an owner surrender when her owner could no longer afford to keep her.  She has been with her foster family going on three months. Coco is absolutely the sweetest dog you will ever meet.  She never meets a stranger!  Her foster family can tell you that she is wonderful with children too!    She gets excited when children want to pet her and touch her.  She just wags her tail and puts her front two paws on them.  She loves all people!!  She loves to go to PetSmart and meet all kinds of people.  She has had a rough couple of years but is happily living a comfortable life in Madisonville, La.  She loves her foster family.  She is currently living with 5 other doxies and she gets along great with all of them.  She does not like cats though.  She thinks they are squirrels and wants to run after them. Coco would be a great inside dog.  She is house trained and can hold it up to 8 hrs.  She won't have an accident in the house unless she absolutely can't hold it anymore.  She does like to be outside but has gotten used to being inside.  She is also crate trained.  She doesn't really like it but she doesn't complain.  But the one thing that Coco really wants more than anything is a home to call her own.  She just wants to be loved.  She is tired of going from home to home.  Coco would love to meet you and I promise you she will love you just as much if not more than you will love her.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
