BIO:

My name is Mick and in case you haven't noticed I'm a beautiful boy.  I have good manners, play well with my foster doxies and foster cats.  I pretty well mind my own business and sometimes you won't even know that I'm around. Oh yea, I like kids, too!

Now that you have heard from Mick it's his foster mom's turn.  He is a good boy and we haven't heard him bark yet and he has been with us since the week before New Year’s. He knows a few commands, will sit and is very gentle when he takes treats.  He has free roam of the house but I do crate him when I'm at work and he sleeps in our bedroom at night on his doggie bed in the floor.  We have had a few accidents but he goes to the garage to have them, so he’s well on his way to being the perfect gentleman.  He loves to go outside and run with his foster doxies and he has learned that when he comes in he will sit and wait for his treat.  He is a little on the skinny side so he is eating good dog food (I feed Nutro dog food) to build him back up.  Not sure how long he was roaming the street until a lady took him in and called AADR.  He appears to be a mix doxie but has a beautiful doxie face and coloring. He is a little shy and will come to you slowly and we are working on the trust with him but when he does come to you, he will lie down and wants his belly rubbed. He is also a couch potato! He’s been kids tested and cat tested and passed with flying colors. He’s a gentle spirit and will be a great addition to any family—even with young children!

More about Mick...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
