BIO

Lilly is a petite and beautiful little girl. She is a puppy mill survivor and knows only of cage life and puppies. She is very sweet and does not bite, growl or show any aggression whatsoever. She is very timid and shy; she gets along with other dogs but does not interact with them as yet. I have just started leash training her and so far with a lot of encouragement she is doing great. She does not know yet what she is out there for, but we have just started. Whoever adopts Lilly will have to be special and have a lot of patience, she does not yet know how to act like a normal dog. She will sit next to you in the chair as you watch tv and loves to be pet. When you are outside in the yard, she will come to you if you call her sometimes and other times she need a lot of encouragement. She does not like to cuddle, she is too afraid yet, she does not know how to eat treats because she never had any before she came into foster. I do believe she will come around eventually with time and a lot of socialization work. I have her on a schedule to go out in the yard and then she potties after awhile when she relaxes. I would say an enclosed yard is a must for this little girl at this time because she is not leashed trained well enough yet.  Do you have enough patience and time to help Lilly adapt to family life? If so, please go online to our website and fill out an adoption application and we will be in contact with you. Thank you for looking at our rescues.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
