MEET LUCKY3

One thing that is for sure is that his name says it all!!!

Lucky was turned in to a rural TN shelter with a broken front leg. Of course being a local shelter they did not have the funds to repair Lucky’s leg so they contacted us to see if we could take this little guy in. We were there in a flash to pick him up. We picked Lucky up and off to our vet we went. It turns out Lucky’s broken leg was an old injury that could not be repaired. It was so old in fact that our vet determined it was in Lucky’s best interest to amputate his leg. So on 11/22/11 Lucky was prepped for surgery & his leg was removed. Mr. Lucky also had to have an in depth dental & have several teeth removed. You may not think that he has been lucky so far, but you see he is…….he was RESCUED & was able to get the surgery and dental he so badly needed. Lucky has now recovered from the surgery & ready for his new home.

His foster home reports that he is now a healthy, happy little man. Despite his handicap Lucky gets around just fine. He is adapting to having only 3 legs VERY quickly. He LOVES to be loved on – his belly is his favorite spot! He ranks in the top 5 best cuddlers of all time.  He is great with kids, cats, and even strangers. He likes to play with his foster fur-sister & is even holding his own when it comes to play time – of course his foster mom monitors them due to his recent surgery.  He is very curious about the cats in the foster home & likes to chase them (only to play – never to harm). His housetraining is a work in progress but we are certain with a set schedule that he will catch on in no time.

Lucky is just looking for that forever home that can love him no matter what his handicap is.

If you are unable to adopt but would like to make a donation of ANY amount towards Lucky’s extensive surgery it would be much appreciated. Without donations from our sponsors we would not have been able to give Lucky the surgery he desperately needed. You can send donations via paypal (ssdrpurchase@yahoo.com ) or you can mail your donations to 1719 Groveland Ridge Rd. Columbia, TN  38401

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
