Hello everyone, I’m Gunner. I am a tweenie Dachshund with a smooth Brindle coat. I am told that I am a really handsome, older gentleman. I am potty trained if kept on a schedule. I was rescued from a breeder and like many others, I have a broken barker. I’ve done very well since SSDR took me in. I am still shy when I first meet people, but with time I do come around. My foster mom says that I am the most laid back Doxie she has ever seen. I need a patient loving home to welcome me and make me feel secure. My perfect world would include a warm bed, a cozy lap to lie on, food in my belly and a yard to play in with very few stairs. If you can provide me with these things for the rest of my life, please fill out an application and mark me, Gunner as your potential new family member. If you have any questions about me, please contact my foster mom at KidsRmyLife@gmail.com she just loves to talk about me.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
