BIO:
Winston is a breeder surrender. We don’t know how life was for him before AADR got him. Winston has had a tough time trusting humans, but is coming around nicely in his own time. He is beginning to see how his life should be. He is showing great strides of trust and love for his foster family. He is enjoying his freedom to play outside and loves to play with his two new housemate doxies. He is very quiet and a long, lean machine. He soo wants to be loved and cared for. Please open your hearts and home to this sweet little boy. I promise you won’t be sorry. He has so much love to give. Winston would be ideal in a house with a secure fenced in back yard and older children. Loud noises tend to scare him. He enjoys the companionship of other dogs. Winston is crate trained. Foster family is working on getting him used to a leash and housetraining. If he is allowed outside on a schedule, he has no accidents in the house. He is a very smart guy and a fast learner. Please consider giving this little guy a second chance at life! He will be your companion for life!!
More about Winston...MO
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
