For the life of us we do not know why Denny ended up in a kill shelter in Huntsville, AL but he did. We were asked if we would take him and we agreed, he was scared at first and very very thin but we’ve worked to put some weight on him and he may need just another pound or two and he’ll be at his ideal weight. As far as his fear he’s well over that and is a very out-going young man that loves to meet new people young and old. He would make a great pet for a young family as long as they teach their kids boundaries for dachshunds. Denny likes to be a lap dog in the evening when you are slowing down for the day but is also all over going outside and helping you with yard work. He just likes to be with his people. He is also great with other dogs and we think probably cats. If you are looking for a young, sweet boy that has a lot of love to give than our search is over. Fill out an app on Denny today.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
