BIO

Watson, it’s just so nice to meet you and my, you’re handsome!  Will you please tell the readers a little bit about yourself?

I’d love to!  My name is Watson and yes, I am good looking aren’t I?  My profile is especially stunning.  I have loved my time at my foster home.  I’ve come a long way from feeling scared and afraid to eat.   Hey, did my brother Jake tell you about this great idea we had about a magically refilling food dish?  It’s a great idea.  I love to eat you know and there’s nothing more disappointing that coming to the bottom of the food bowl.  I also enjoy my naps and running around the back yard playing my sisters and brothers.  I do try to keep an air of mystery about myself.  You know, it kind of makes a dog look goofy when they get all excited and act uncontrollable.  I have an image to uphold for the good of the canine.  I’d like to be considered a dog of deep reflection…you know, the strong silent type.  But secretly, when no one is looking, I’ll take the little human’s jump rope and bring it outside and then my brother and I will play tug of war.  I stop immediately though if I see a human coming.  Again, I have an image to uphold.

Wow Watson, you worked your magic on me because you do impress me as the sophisticated type.  Tell us Watson, what are you looking for in your forever home?

Well that magic food dish would be great for one!  After that, a soft, plushy bed, a lot of bones to chew on (I love deer antlers), some kind humans and nice home would be great.  I like to go places and have adventures.  Plus I simply love the admiration, hugs and kisses I get from all the big and little humans when I go out with my foster family.

Watson and his siblings were placed in a shelter drop off box in Florence, Alabama.  They are a Dachshund mix yet very lean and will likely grow to be at most 15 pounds.

Watson is trained to us a dog door and a crate.  He is very bright, wants to please and will train quickly with consistent and positive reinforcement.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
