BIO:
If you are looking for a high energy kinda guy then Barron is your man. He’s up for anything and would be a great jogging buddy or walking buddy. He has a high prey drive so we think it very important that you have a fenced in yard that he can check out every morning and run and play in. He also would need another younger dog to play with as he may get bored if he can’t use up his energy. He does very well with his housebreaking and when you go away he’s fine in a crate or at night he’s fine.
When he first meets you he’s a little shy but warms up quickly and is fine with both men and women. We suggest kids age 5 plus so toddlers do not fall on him and hurt him. Barron’s favorite thing to do is run around out in the yard and chase cars that go down the road on our side of the fence. He’s a happy happy boy and will make someone a great family member.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
