BIO:

Magic is a sweet mix and loves to play, has a kind heart and wants to please.  Magic, her sister and her mom were left at a farm in Alabama.  The owners of the contacted our rescue to see if we could help.   Magic’s mother is a full dachshund.

Magic uses the dog door, can be left out of a crate overnight without accidents (though she loves a crate).  She has learned to wait for the release command before eating her food, she knows how to sit and she’s learning to stay and lay down.  Magic would probably love to have another dog to play with.  I don’t think it’s mandatory, but she only recently got in touch with her inner puppy self and is really enjoying the freedom and joy it provides.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
