BIO:

Hi, my name is Rocco, a purebred male dachshund. I was placed in foster care because my original owners were too busy for my puppy energy. My foster mom says I am a very good and handsome puppy who likes to chew on rawhide bones and chase tennis balls. My human foster brother called me Pebbles because I am a small guy with a big heart. If he lets me I love sleeping under the covers with my Foster Human brother. I love sitting with my human family on the couch. I currently live with two other dogs and would like to be with other fur sibling if possible. I know how to sit and I am a work in progress learn to go outside to do my business. My foster mom tells me I am very smart and willing to learn. I like to run so a fenced back yard would be great to have as well. I walk well on a leash and enjoy being outside.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
