BIO:

ELSIE was surrendered by her family in MS after they decided they just didn’t have time for her with young children. Because they didn’t teach her any manners and possible disciplined her too much she was very submissive when she came here. Now after working with her and letting her get some confidence about herself she no longer pees when you reach to pick her up. She has learned the doggie door and is doing very well with training and has learned a lot from the other dogs. ELSIE loves other dachshunds and LOVES to play with them so another younger dachshund is a must for ELSIE. This little girl is a gem just needs to have the rough edges taken off with some obedience training. She is VERY eager to please and loves, loves, loves to be held and cuddled, will give you kisses galore. In just the month we’ve had her we have seen her true personality come out and what a joy she’ll be for someone. Won’t you consider giving ELSIE a home where she will be loved and appreciated for the wonderful little girl she is. Also a fenced in yard is a must for her since she loves to be outside playing and running the yard.

More about Elsie...TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
