Bio:
Annie was found as a stray and given to us by the wonderful girls who found her. They knew we would do our best to find her the perfect home and family. Annie is a darling little girl that we think may be a year old. She is a gorgeous wheaten/blonde color and we think is a Dachshund / Shih Tzu mix.
Annie is full of life and energy and loves everyone she meets, both human and canine. She has been doing very well on her potty training and has learned how to use a pet door. Being so young, Annie still has a lot of doggie manners and commands to learn and needs a family that understands and is willing to work with her. We think puppy classes would be a fun way to grow and bond together! We also feel that with her youthful exuberance for life, she needs a companion to play with and keep her company when her person is busy or gone for a while, so a home with another dog is a must. Children in the home should be 10 or older, who know how to handle her carefully and protect her back.
Annie has a lot of joy and fun to bring to a family and we know will give years of happy memories. Is she the girl for you? If you have any questions or want more pictures, email her foster mom, Diane.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
