Charlie and his sister, Carolina, were owner surrenders along with their mom. Sounded great until we learned their mom had no milk left. So, Charlie and Carolina learned very quickly how to make a Gerber bottle work for them. He and his sister are on the same schedule so when they wake up hungry, they both wake up hungry and try to root the other off of the bottle nipple. They have learned to come running when they see their bottle. (Look at Carolina's picture for proof of how much they love it.)

Little Charlie is larger than his sister but he's still a little, tiny boy. If you think you want Charlie to come live with you, there are some things we will be looking for. It's important that you be committed to raising a puppy. Puppies have accidents, puppies chew things, and puppies can be as troublesome as they can be delightful. Little puppies grow up and don't stay the tiny, cuddly creatures they are now. You must want him to spend his whole life with you. You must also guarantee us he will be neutered when he's old enough. Our babies cannot be used to breed.

In return for your love and patient training, Charlie will give you all the love he has and plenty of dachshund kisses.

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
