BIO:

Lil Bear is a designer dog (dachshund/yorkie) = DORKIE and boy is he a cutie.  Lil Bear was a breeder surrender and he is now learning how to be a pet.  He is learning what grass feels like, how to sit in a person’s lap and feel at ease, how to chase a ball, how to potty in the yard, give kisses and just live the good life.  He is a very quiet, shy little guy, and would probably do best in a home without young children, but with another dog that he could learn from.  Each day I find out a little more about his personality.   He is slowly coming out of his shell and seems to get a bit happier every day.  It is a joy to see him play with his foster brothers and sisters, lay in the sun, and come to me for a pat on the head or a belly rub.  Oh, did I mention he really likes sleeping in the big bed.  This is one very sweet little guy that is just looking for love and a home to call his own.  Wouldn’t you just love to wake up to this cute face every morning?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
