Scooter needs a fenced in yard and other dog or two to be happy in that home. Women only perfered!

Scooter Bug is a sweet girl who came to be in foster care over a year ago. When someone takes the time to get to know her and lets her learn to trust, she is a wonderful little girl. She loves to snuggle and get kisses from her female owner. For the first month she was with me, she would not trust me to do anything for her. As time went on she became more trusting, but still to this day sometimes when I pick her up she will urinate. She does not like men and will not do well in a house with a man.

She does fine with other dogs but we're not sure about cats. Children tend to frighten her and she does not react well if they try to grab her so she needs a home without children. We're still working on potty training and she does better when kept on a schedule. Scooter sleeps well in her crate, and rides well in a car. Could you be the furever home she needs and deserves?

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
