BEING FOSTERED IN VIRGINIA

GABBI is done with treatment(no worse for the wear and put on some weight) and is not READY TO GO TO HER FOREVER HOME!!
GABBI came from Clarksville, TN were she was dumped at the shelter probably right after her pups were weaned. NO pups, just her. She was scared and possibly abused so they contacted us to come get her. We took her to the vets and found out she was heartworm positive so she has undergone treatment for heartworms and will be ready in about 6 weeks to go onto her new home. She is as sweet as can be and is slowly coming around to not being so afraid of her human foster mom and dad. She is fine with other dogs and does appear to be house trained at least to the doggie door. She would be fine with male and females bacause she is submissive to everyone here. We really do belive that she was abused some but "no more." She is safe now for the rest of her life and we want to find her a home where she will have a chance to live life unafraid of her people and be spoiled the way she should be. If you are interested in giving GABBI just that home please do fill out that app she is waiting for YOU!! E mail if you need more info.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
