MEET HEART!!!
Update: Heart has been in foster care now for quite sometime & we are not sure why. She is a complete joy to have around. She is so eager to please and will be your very best friend. Heart is not a high-maintenance kind of girl. On the contrary she is VERY laid back & there are days you would never know she was here until dinner time. Heart would be fine in a single dog home, but would excel in a home with at least one other doggie companion. She LOVES her foster brother & sister.
Heart was an owner surrender to AADR from a family that could no longer care for her. When she came into rescue she was very nervous because she was taken from the only home she had ever known. Heart did not come with any vet paperwork & her previous owners were not sure of her age. Heart was taken to the vet, given a dental (she had to lose 16 teeth, but that doesn’t slow her down), her shots, and finally a clean bill of health.
Turns out Heart is a TRUE Southern Belle!!! She is the politest dachshund we have had the privilege of fostering in a very long time. She has not had any accidents in her new foster home & even whines to let you know when she needs to go out if she can’t get to the doggie door. She is fine with cats, but will chase them if provoked (only momentarily though because she would rather be snoozing). She is fine with my older kids (10 & 7), but she is a little nervous around my 3 year old. So her best environment would be in a home with older children. Heart’s favorite past time is snoozing in the closest doggie bed or curled up with you on the couch. Heart knows her name and will come when called. She is learning to wait for dinner and is catching onto our household routine rather quickly. Heart doesn’t like to be rushed to do anything, she likes to take her time & do things when she is ready. But she is VERY treat motivated & will do whatever your heart desires when you have a treat in hand.
If you feel you can give Heart the home she so deserves please fill out an adoption application.
