FOSTER HOME Danielle, Nashville,TN foxforcefive1974@gmail.com)

Ziggy was rescued from a puppy mill by the AADR and he is a BEAUTIFUL dachshund. He looks like the poster boy for doxies. He has a beautiful red coat and has a long lovely dachshund nose and long floppy ears. He is a sweet baby that has come along leaps and bounds. When he arrived at his foster home he was terrified and emaciated. He feared hands, people (especially men) and cowered in the corner. He has filled out nicely and eats like a champ! He now sleeps on his foster mommy's lap whenever he can squeeze in between his brothers! He still runs when anyone tries pick him up without him asking first. He is working on crate training but would rather sleep with the rest of the pack on the big bed. He does use his crate well when home alone. He is learning proper potty habits, slowly, but he never goes on rugs! Ziggy is learning to use a doggie door,
Ziggy needs a patient and loving forever home. Someone that can focus all the love and attention he deserves. He still has "issues" from being in the puppy mill but with love, time and caring understanding Ziggy will be an incredible life-long friend.

**Prefer local adoption (NOT required) due to issues of anxiety linked to life in a puppy mill.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Ziggy....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
