BIO:
Queenie came to AADR from a Georgia breeder. She is a very pretty, young female, soft coated and gentle. She is skittish around strangers and will take a few days to really warm up to someone. However, once she understands that you will love her and not hurt her, she will shadow you all over the house. She loves to sit in your lap or sit beside you with her head in your lap. She loves being petted and takes great comfort in human touch. She does not give tons of doggy kisses. Queenie will bark at unknown noises and strangers, but she is not an incessant barker when outside and she loves to go outside to run and play. Queenie is just learning what toys are all about and has started to play with a soft squeaky toy. Although Queenie currently sleeps in her kennel at night, she would prefer to sleep in the big beg with her person. Queenie gets along well with other dogs, bigger and smaller. She is learning to wait her turn for treats and meals. She knows sit and is learning other commands. She is quiet and sweet and just waiting for someone to love and love her.
More about QUEENIE...MA
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
