LuLu just came today so I don't know much about her yet except what she tells me and what the shelter told me. I'll let her tell you . . .
I've been told that I'm a beautiful dachshund and I think I'm a pretty good girl. I must have really done something wrong, though because a terrible thing happened to me. The people I thought were my family told me we were going for a ride in the car. Well, I like to ride and sit quietly so that's what I did. When we stopped, the doors opened and I was picked up. Next thing I knew, I was in this cage outside in the dark. I looked around and thought surely this was a mistake but it wasn't. They left me! They just drove away.
Some nice people came to get me when it was light again but I was so scared I barked at them. You see, I wanted my own people to get me, not these strangers. They got me out anyway and things just got worse. I had an operation they said would keep me from having babies and that was good but to me it was scary and it hurt. I had shots, too. After that, I was back in a cage. People came to look at me but I was too scared to be friendly so I barked.
Today is better! A lady came today who wasn't scared of me. She just took me right out of the cage and carried me outside. She told me we were going home. I'm on the couch right now dictating this but as soon as I finish, I'm going to take a nap. My blanket is on the couch with me so I'm all ready to sleep. I've been outside sunning and foster mom says I can go outside any time I want to and sleep right here beside her.
Can you make my tomorrow the best day of all by giving me a forever home?
From foster mom - I don't know much about LuLu yet but I'll update as I get to know her better. Feel free to email me.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
