BIO:

Cason is a very sweet boy who loves to be cuddled and held more that anything. . He is definitely a lap dog and loves to sleep with you in the big bed but is also crate trained.  If he is kept on a schedule he has no accidents in the house. Cason is a little timid in new situations and is still a little nervous.  It will take him some time to gain his confidence.  He follows the lead of the other dogs so he needs to go to a home with at least one other dog.

Cason is still learning basic commands and house manners.  He came from a breeder and seemed to have had little human contact before coming to us.  He is learning very quickly about good doggy manners though. He rarely barks and only does so if the other dogs bark. He gets along great with other dogs and also does well with my cat.   He is very loving but timid at first. He loves living the good life and is so loving toward his human!  Children twelve or older would be fine though as long as they gave him time to adjust!  He is learning how to play and likes to run around and play chase.   Cason is a very handsome boy with a beautiful soft, shinny coat. He has many years of love and loyalty to give!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
