BIO:
FLASH came from a shelter in Hattiesburg, MS as a stray and heartworm positive. We don’t know anything about Flash but we know he is a character with lots of charm and loves loves loves toys. He would love it if you’d play with him but if you are too busy he’ll play with himself. At first he didn't like to share his toys with another dog but we've worked with him and he's better now. He would do best in a home with a young female that would play with him and keep him company or he would be fine by himself where he gets all the attention which is what he really wants. He is crate trained and does very well in a crate with a rawhide until you get home. He is house broken to a dog door and as eager as he is to please he’d do well with retraining to a regular door and treats for going outside. He’s a quick learner. He is fairly active and needs a fenced in yard. He would do well with kids over 10 yrs that would play with him and cuddle with him and give him the attention that he craves. He’d love to warm your bed at night too. Please fill out an application today for this sweet boy. He just wants someone to love him and he'll return that 10 fold.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about FLASH...VA
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
