BIO:  CLARA IS DONE WITH HEARTWORM TREATMENT AND READY FOR HER NEW HOME!

Clara is a very sweet girl. Laid back and gets along with other dogs. Cats are unknown. Kids over 10 would be fine. We can't understand why Clara hasn't been adopted before this because she really is the perfect dachshund.

CLARA came from Montgomery, AL where she was turned in and when tested for heartworms she was positive so for the last couple of months she has been going thru heartworm treatment and has done very well. She will have her finally check-up on the 29th of Nov and will be able to go to her forever home after that. She will need to be kept on HeartGard Plus for 6 mos but the rescue is supplying that as a part of the treatment. So please consider putting in an application for Clara today, by the time your application is approved she will be ready to go.

Clara is a very very sweet girl little shy when she first meets a stranger but warms up quickly. She is a couch potato and loves to sit with you while you what TV or play games on the TV. She is housebroken to a dog door but with a little work would be also housebroken. She is crate trained and goes in a crate when we leave with a rawhide and is fine. She gets along very well with all the other foster brothers and sisters but we don’t know about cats. We would say kids over 10 yrs. Clara loves to sleep in the big bed and is very fond of foster Daddy. If you are looking for one lady back little girl then Clara is the one for you!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about CLARA....NJ

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
