She was dropped off at a shelter not understanding what was going on. She was pregnant and so anxious and scared that she chewed a patch of hair of her rump. The shelter contacted AADR when they found they could not care for Daisy properly with their shelter under renovation. Upon being brought into the AADR she has thrived! Her hair is almost completely grown back and her personality has really shinned through! Hard to believe anybody would give up such a sweet loving dog. Daisy is a real snuggler & loves to be warm under the blankets with her people. She is a good mamma and takes really good care of her pups. She enjoys sleeping, eating, and watching TV when she is not busy with her babies. She does great both on leash and off, and stays right with you. She likes to play but would rather sit in your lap and be loved on. Like I said a real snuggler! Daisy is a great watchdog and lets you know when someone has arrived but will quiet down and want the person to pet her once they get inside. She would do great in a home that is as laid back and relaxed as she is. She loves everybody so she should have no trouble adjusting to a new home. Could that new home be with you? If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, cuddly little girl into your life Daisy is the girl for you.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
