BIO:

Candy3 came from off Craig List in AR when a breeder was giving up her stock and another person took them then tried to get them homes without spaying them, we were afraid they would end up again as breeder dogs so we convince the good Samaritan to turn them over to us. Considering she was a breeder dog she is very friendly and laid back, Little shy at first but warms up quickly to all and likes men, women and even kids, anyone that will hold her or pay attention to her. She is housebroken to a dog door so would need to be on a schedule to get the hang of not having a dog door which we think would be very easy for her since she’s so eager to please. She plays a little here but is still learning to be a pet; that will come in time. She is also crate trained and will go right in a crate to eat or be crated while we are gone.

The ideal home for Candy3 would be a home with a fenced in yard and another dachshund to keep her company or to be adopted with Cookie2 whom she came into rescue with and even though they are not bonded they do like to sleep in the same doggie bed together and could be crated together. Please consider giving Candy3 the wonderful home she so deserves and let the memories of being a breeder dog fade away.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options. More about CANDY3...AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
