BIO:

Sam has been with me for the past 8 months.  He is really starting to worry that he will never find his forever home.  He sees the other fosters leaving and being adopted by loving families, living happily forever after, yet he is still waiting.

Sam or Sammy is a solid young man with a stocky build.  He has a beautiful soft smooth black and mahogany coat and sparkling brown eyes.  He does a woo woo bark and talks to you especially when he is about to get his dinner.  He is not a very demanding little fellow and is content to just hang out with you or be nearby.  He loves to bask in the sun with the other doxies who he gets along with great.  He is not too fond of bigger dogs as my two Rottweilers are afraid of him because he barks and chases them.  He is kind of fearless in that respect and would probably be better in a home that does not have big dogs.  He can be kind of stubborn sometimes if you ask him to do something that he has not already decided to do on his own, but gentle persuasion & coaxing usually wins him over.

Sam is truly a wonderful little guy and deserves to be with his forever family soon.  He is hoping that with some updated photos, perhaps someone will be interested in giving this little man a chance at a new life. Please feel free to email me with any inquiries about Sammy.  Thank you for checking out this special little man’s bio.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
