Bio:

Jax is a beautiful 8 year old black and tan little guy who has had a hard life. He came to AADR emaciated and unsure of humans. His foster mom suspects there was abuse in his past. Little Jax wants to be loved so much but he doesn't know who he can trust! He LOVES his foster mom! He could snuggle with her all day. However, Jax needs to go to an experienced dachshund home to work with his fear issues. He LOVES other dogs but is distrustful of other people. Jax would do well in a home with a single woman who wants to have  a totally devoted best friend!

He walks great on a leash and harness and is a good weight now....about 11.5 lbs and doesn't look emaciated any longer.  He knows to potty outside but will also go on a potty pad by the door. He is great on up and down steps and has no fears.  The first night he was at my house, he went up the ramp to bed all by himself first without any prompting from other dogs.  He comes when called which is more than I can say about all the dogs at my house! He loves to be in your lap and just know that his person is close.

Please help us show Jax that life is not over for him but just beginning! Lets show Jax how fun it is to be part of a family who loves him just as much as he loves them!

More about Jax...GA

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
