BIO:
Ellie Mae, is a young dog, not much over a year old. She is a pretty girl, mostly white with some dappling and one blue eye. She is larger more standard in type. She weighs 16 pounds, She walks very well on a leash, and is doing very well learning house training. She is very playful and loves other dogs, children and really everyone! She would be great in a home with other dogs, or by herself. She will need plenty of exercise if she doesn't have another canine for play! She loves to be a 'good girl' and knows what that means. She can sit for a cookie, any time! Ellie Mae, has already had three homes in her young life before coming to foster care. She longs to find the perfect fit that will be her family forever. She's brimming with love to give. Do you have a fun loving active home with a lap or two for cuddling? If so Ellie Mae would love to meet you!

More about Ellie Mae
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
