 BIO

SCOUT came from a kill-shelter in AR but was pulled by a small dog rescuer and then we were contracted to ask if we could take him. He is very very sweet and LOVES his people. He loves them so much he does not want to share the attention with another dog and will growl and snappy at the other dog when his human has him in their lap or his human is paying attention to another dog SO for that reason we say not other dogs. He needs to be the center or his humans world.  He is crate-trained and appears to be housebroken but will need to be kept on a schedule. If you are looking for a life long companion this is the boy for you. He will have a fresh dental before he goes to his new home.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about SCOUT...TN

Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
