Clyde is a solid black dachshund, of about 6 years old. He is a sweet cuddle bug, who was abused as a puppy but you would never guess this being around him. He is lively and youthful with tons of love for squeeky toys. He does have a few medical issues but do not take much extra effort to his doggy care. He has "male pattern baldness" which he takes a vitamin and has special shampoo for, and he has a few calcified disks that have come with age. These do not bother him unless he jumps from a high height (which no dachshund should be doing). He is a lil on the bigger side for a miniature dachshund at 20lbs but most of that weight is coming off at his foster home with proper excercise and no table scraps.
Clyde comes with his bed, some toys, colors and leash. He is losing weight and becoming more active and his back does not bother him at all so the adopter will need to keep the weight off him. His ideal weight should be around 13-14 lbs.
More pictures are coming of him, he's a beautiful boy that was abused earlier in life but has left no lasting effects on him. He would do better with another dachshund since he has been used to be with other dogs and may become lonely if he is the only dog.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
