BIO:

SHAY was given up by her human daddy when he had to go into have surgery and no one to care for him. We could tell he cared for her and hated to give her up but no choice. The sadder part of this story is that she was adopted out and now being returned because that home wanted the perfect dog. Only had her 10 days and have not given her a chance to adjust. Many times when these dogs come in it can take them from 30-60 days to finally become adjusted enough to call their home “home”. With that said we want Shay to go to her next home and for it to be a forever home so we want the next adopters to know that she is going to take time to adjust. She needs a fenced in yard where she can potty and wander the yard. She is crate trained and is fine in a crate when you leave but wants to be in the big bed at night. If you have a fenced in yard, willing to let her sleep with you and patience while she adjust then YOU are the home we are looking for so please only apply for her if this is what you have. Please let’s not put her thru the heartbreak again of losing her home!

More about SHAY....TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
