ALASTAIR IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS EWAN SO ONLY PICTURES WILL SHOW THE DIFFERENCE....ALASTAIR IS VERY LAID BACK AND GENTLE...WHAT A SWEET SWEET BOY AND LOOK AT THAT FACE!!
These puppies were born on May 27 to Katrina, a chocolate mini, and their dad, Duke 3, a longhaired dapple. Mom weighs less than 10 pounds and dad about 12 pounds. Mom has a great personality and so does dad.
They are healthy, happy and well socialized to other dachshunds and to cats and to people. They go outside so their house training is off to a good start.
It's very important that these little ones are adopted with a commitment to keep them forever. Since I've been foster mom to many dachshunds who were "thrown away" by the people who should have loved them, I am going to be as sure as I can that it won't happen to any of these boys.
When you bring a tiny puppy home and they are so cuddly and have that wonderful puppy breath, it's easy to forget that they won't stay tiny. They will need to learn house manners, how to walk on a leash, and that mom's favorite shoes are not the latest chew toy.
Experienced dachshund owners know that doxies have a mind of their own and will require patience and firm guidance along with much love. In return, you will have a dachshund that will be devoted to you. We feel it's best for the puppies to go to homes with out small children(under 5) and to have a fenced in yard.
Spay/neuter is mandatory. There will be a spay/neuter deposit that we will return when we receive proof of the surgery.
WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR DOGS CARGO, TOO MANY HORROR TALES HAVE HAPPENED FOR US TO FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS. IF WE CAN'T TRANSPORT BY LAND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY TO THE CITY THAT THE DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN TO GET HIM/HER. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard or down to FLORDIA. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
