FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL) Stephanie, Huntsville, AL smburmei@comcast.net

If you are looking for the love of your life, Woody is ready for a forever home! This sweet puppy was turned in from a breeder and was so scared of people, he wore himself out from sheer fright. But within days, he’s learning that his foster mom and dad give great belly rubs, and the treats in his foster home are yummy.  Woody is still nervous and skittish, but is becoming accustomed to the noises of a home and that laps are great for snuggling and sleeping. He’s also enjoying the freedom of a fenced yard and having fun running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters. He has a sweet and submissive temperament and will need someone to be gentle and give him time to warm up. Once he trusts you, he’ll run to you, flip on his back, show his belly and wiggle simply from the joy of being loved! He is learning the potty routine and should catch on quickly with consistency and praise. He has a sensitive heart, so scolding will never be successful with him. Woody would thrive in a home with a balanced and calm dog that would “show him the ropes” and give him confidence and a buddy to play with.  A relatively quiet home with a structured routine would be best for Woody to become a relaxed and happy puppy. He will be fine with children, but they must be old enough to know the importance of being kind and gentle to a small dog and that doors and gates must be kept closed at all times to keep him safe. Woody has not been cat tested, but he’s young and sweet spirited, so with the proper introduction, he should be OK.

Woody was recently neutered, microchipped, and had all his vaccines. Now, he’s ready for someone to love him unconditionally, be patient with him, and have gentle words to win his sweet puppy heart over. He promises that you’ll be the apple of his eye forever! If you have questions or would like additional pictures, email his foster mom at smburmei@comcast.net. He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL.

More about WOODY...NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
