FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL)

Laura Coulombe, North Smithfield, RI, vintagepainting@yahoo.com

Harley is an owner surrender, not his fault though. His momma had to move to an apartment situation and she cared enough to be sure he was placed in rescue instead of the pound. Harley is very loveable, very much a lap dog and will be a loyal companion.  He had not been socialized around other animals prior to entering foster care so it takes him a little time to accept other dogs around him.  Once he does, he is okay.

He is crate trained and goes right in when you hold the door open for him. He will bark at strangers (anyone he doesn’t know) but typically just for the introduction and then he just wants to be loved on by them.   If you think you could be the perfect home for Harley, one with attention, love and a willingness to be loved, please fill out an application.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

Fee the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
