FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL)  DeeAnn Jones, West Columbia, SC  --- deesdawgs@aol.com

Abbie was dumped at a rural shelter in South Carolina with 5 other dachshunds. She was clearly a breeder dog that never received human contact.  Abbie is a sweet dachshund who just wants to be loved.  She is still very skittish but each day faces her fear and comes to her human foster mom.  Abbie really enjoys cuddling with you when you sit down.  Abbie is a great climber and would need a home that would leash walk her or has a privacy tall fence.  Abbie would do best in a home with children 13 and older.  She would make a great addition to a home with another dachshund.  I think with love and understanding she could make a wonderful addition to any family!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about Abbie...FL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
