My name is Shortie, and I am seven months old. While still very young, I am almost completely house-broken and don’t have accidents in the house.I enjoy playing with balls and other objects…..the best ones are the ones that squeak when I squeeze them.I am very out-going and playful once I get to know you.I might take a day or two to really warm up, but after that, I will want to sit on your lap and watch TV.I like other dogs, and I really enjoy playing with my foster brothers…..we will chase balls and toys as long as you want to throw them for us.I am still a little skinny fromthe other home I came from, but my foster mom makes sure that I eat well, so I think I gain back those couple of pounds.I can’t wait to meet you.The only thing that I ask is that you give me lots of love and care…..because I will give it back to you tenfold.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
