FOSTER HOME MICHAEL michaelandbelen@yahoo.com

BIO:

My name is Shortie, and I am seven months old.  While still very young, I am almost completely house-broken and don’t have accidents in the house.  I enjoy playing with balls and other objects…..the best ones are the ones that squeak when I squeeze them.  I am very out-going and playful once I get to know you.  I might take a day or two to really warm up, but after that, I will want to sit on your lap and watch TV.  I like other dogs, and I really enjoy playing with my foster brothers…..we will chase balls and toys as long as you want to throw them for us.  I am still a little skinny from  the other home I came from, but my foster mom makes sure that I eat well, so I think I gain back those couple of pounds.  I can’t wait to meet you.  The only thing that I ask is that you give me lots of love and care…..because I will give it back to you tenfold.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
